Responsibilities
- Confirm patient identity and exam verification prior to initiating the scan; adhere to department policy for patient safety and quality imaging
- Prepare patients for scans, explain procedures, and provide reassurance to minimize anxiety
- Perform CT procedures; insert IVs for contrast when required and monitor for adverse reactions
- Position patients safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices for mobility limitations
- Accurately document all exam components in EPIC and ensure images are correctly sent to the PACS system
- Maintain a clean, safe scanning area and follow infection control and radiation safety protocols
- Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians to deliver diagnostic quality images
- May require injection therapy certification; willing to complete during orientation if not already certified
- Knowledge of Siemens and Philips CT equipment is preferred; Epic experience is highly desired; telemetry knowledge is required
Requirements
- NYS license: Radiologic Technologist license must be active and obtained prior to starting
- Certification: ARRT certification; injection therapy certification preferred or required to be stated on NYS license at submission
- Education: Completion of formal training from an approved School of Radiologic Technology; ongoing certification through ARRT
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT imaging experience; Level I trauma center experience preferred
- BLS: Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association required
Equipment
- Knowledge of Siemens scanners; familiarity with Philips equipment preferred
