About the Role

Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing high-quality care in a mixed-acuity environment, supporting patients with trauma post-surgical, MVA, elective surgeries, and other complex conditions. The RN will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care in a mixed-acuity Progressive Care Unit
  • Support patients with trauma post-surgical, MVA, elective surgeries, and other complex conditions
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes
  • Perform blood administration
  • Manage skeletal traction, bucks traction, drains, and Jackson-Pratt (JP) drain management
  • Perform wound dressings and wound vac management
  • Administer high-flow oxygen therapy and stable BiPAP management

Schedule

  • Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), with clock-in at 6:53 PM and mandatory presence for huddle at 7:00 PM
  • 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Start Date: 08/24/2026

Qualifications

  • 2 years of nursing experience
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Unit Details

  • Patient Ratios: RN 1:5, CNA 2 per shift, with one clerical staff during the day
  • Float: To mixed acuity only if required
  • Orientation: 24 hours clinical orientation, including 1 twelve-hour shift at the end of week one and another at the start of week two
  • Support within the Department: CNA, receptionist, charge nurse, lab responsibilities, vascular access team, resource teams (Sepsis and Rapid Response), 24/7 specialist, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Technology/Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record (EMR), Plum ICU Medical IV pumps, Phillips monitors, sera steady, Arjo lifts, Kangaroo pump, sapphire pump for PCA (patient-controlled analgesia)
  • Scrub color: Galaxy Blue
