About the role
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) based in Tucson, Arizona, is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by following established nursing care plans. This role involves supervising licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and orientees. The RN promotes patient and staff safety while engaging in assessment, care planning, implementation, and discharge education, contributing to positive patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.
Schedule
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
- Minimum of 36 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
- Develop individualized care plans and participate in interdisciplinary team evaluations
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in a timely manner
- Engage in discharge planning and patient teaching from day one
- Communicate effectively to support continuity of care and patient safety
- Delegate and supervise ancillary staff to ensure smooth unit operations while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation
- Demonstrate commitment to professional growth through continuing education and self-study
Requirements
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to first shift
- Minimum of two years bedside clinical experience in a similar setting
- Appropriate licensing and registration for practicing as a registered nurse in the state of Arizona
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a progressive care or similar unit
