About the Role

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse position available at a healthcare facility in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing specialized patient care on a 25-bed cardiac telemetry unit, focusing on monitoring, assessing, and caring for patients with cardiac and medical-surgical needs. The position requires a proactive, team-oriented individual capable of handling a fast-paced environment while managing admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized patient care in a 25-bed cardiac telemetry/progressive care unit.
  • Monitor and assess patients with cardiac and medical-surgical needs.
  • Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Perform procedures such as EKGs (most cardiac procedures are performed in the Cath Lab).
  • Participate in float rotation as required.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • 0 or more years of relevant nursing experience in a telemetry or similar setting.
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Adherence to navy-colored scrub dress code.

Unit Information

  • Type of unit: Cardiac Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit.
  • Bed count: 25 beds.
  • Staffing (Day shift): 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 unit secretary, 2-3 techs.
  • Staffing (Night shift): 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 tech.
  • Patient ratios: 4:1.
  • Equipment used: EKG machines, Hoyer lifts, LifePak.

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Every third Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Additional shifts on specific holidays and occasions (e.g., Halloween, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas night).
