About the role

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) positions are available in an urban, community-based hospital setting in High Point, North Carolina. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care for patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic monitoring, including those recovering from cardiac interventions, thoracic surgery, or experiencing respiratory failure. The position offers a dynamic environment focused on patient safety and excellent teamwork.

Schedule

Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Care for patients recovering from cardiac interventions, thoracic surgery, or respiratory failure

Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina RN licensure
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • 1 year of cardiac telemetry or Progressive Care Unit experience
  • Ability to work in North Carolina

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with arterial lines, titration of drips, chest tube management, and post-procedure care

Patient Care

  • Patients with NSTEMI or post-STEMI
  • Cardiac interventions

  • Respiratory failure requiring ventilatory support

Patient Ratios

RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions.

  • EPIC electronic medical records
  • Baxter IV pumps
  • Philips Intellivue monitors

Orientation

36 hours of facility and unit-specific training during the first week, including NTO and online Healthstream modules, plus a 12-hour shift with an RN preceptor.

Float

Float within the critical care division or intermediate care.
