About the role
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a hospital setting. This role involves managing patients with stroke, cardiac drips, and those on continuous bipap therapy, among other procedures. The unit accommodates a mix of patient needs requiring acute but less intensive care than an intensive care unit, and offers a dynamic environment for professional growth.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Minimum 36 hours per week
Unit Information
- Location: Medical City facility, 2nd floor of the main hospital
- Bed Capacity: 25 beds
- Staffing: 54 full-time equivalents (charge RNs, staff RNs, and PCTs during both day and night shifts)
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 or 5:1
- Equipment: Bipap, restraints, airvo, bedside monitoring, seizure precautions, telemonitoring
- EMR System: Meditech
Responsibilities
- Managing stroke patients
- Managing patients on cardiac drips
- Managing patients on bipap
- Following unit-specific policies and SOPs
- Providing compassionate, team-oriented patient care
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- At least 1 year of experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIH (National Institutes of Health) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Preceptor experience
- Charge nurse experience
