About the role

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a hospital setting. This role involves managing patients with stroke, cardiac drips, and those on continuous bipap therapy, among other procedures. The unit accommodates a mix of patient needs requiring acute but less intensive care than an intensive care unit, and offers a dynamic environment for professional growth.

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Minimum 36 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Location: Medical City facility, 2nd floor of the main hospital
  • Bed Capacity: 25 beds
  • Staffing: 54 full-time equivalents (charge RNs, staff RNs, and PCTs during both day and night shifts)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 or 5:1
  • Equipment: Bipap, restraints, airvo, bedside monitoring, seizure precautions, telemonitoring
  • EMR System: Meditech

Responsibilities

  • Managing stroke patients
  • Managing patients on cardiac drips
  • Managing patients on bipap
  • Following unit-specific policies and SOPs
  • Providing compassionate, team-oriented patient care

Requirements

  • Valid RN license
  • At least 1 year of experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NIH (National Institutes of Health) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preceptor experience
  • Charge nurse experience
