Travel Pediatric ICU Open Heart RN - $2,680 per week
About the role
A registered nurse specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with a focus on open heart procedures is needed at a childcare hospital situated on the Anschutz Medical Campus. This position involves providing specialized critical care within a Level Three Cardiac Intensive Care Unit over a 13-week assignment, with rotating day and night shifts. The role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic pediatric environment with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized critical care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with a focus on open heart procedures.
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM / 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM).
- Float within the Children’s Hospital Colorado Anschutz Campus or within 35 miles of the original assignment location as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
- Active Colorado registered nurse license or multi-state compact license.
- Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of staff RN experience in a dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit with open heart specialization.
- Previous travel nursing experience required.
- Up to 75% of scheduled shifts may occur on weekends.
- No on-call requirement.
- No time-off requests approved during the first two weeks of the assignment.
- Seasonal influenza vaccination mandatory (medical or religious exemptions accepted).
- Preference for candidates willing to work one winter holiday (Christmas 2026 or New Year’s 2027).
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification strongly preferred.
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience highly desirable.
- Teaching hospital experience highly desirable.
Schedule
- Duration: 13 weeks (10/20/2026 – 01/23/2027).
- 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts (rotating days and nights).
