Travel Pathology Assistant Job

Start date: 11/02/2026. This is a travel temporary assignment in Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States, lasting 13 weeks in an acute care pathology department.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination
• Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex cases and provide quality material for routine histology studies; obtain pathologist input for gross specimen analysis when appropriate
• Conduct frozen sections and maintain cryostats; dictate complete and accurate gross descriptions
• Communicate findings and results in a timely, professional manner with pathologists and providers
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, supplies, and the cleanliness of the gross cutting area and morgue; dispose of tissues and reagents per procedures
• Perform quality control and routine preventive maintenance; keep gross bench procedures manual current with CAP compliance review

Requirements

• Completion of NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Program
• ASCP certification or exam-ready with certification prior to start date
• Preferred: prior grossing experience
• Ability to perform duties under supervision of a pathologist and in an on-site hospital pathology setting
• Eligibility to work in the stated location and to participate in a travel assignment

Pay

Weekly pay: $3,358 to $3,411 per week

Schedule

• Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
• Contract duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour days
