Travel OR RN - $2,905 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Lakeport, California. The assignment is 13 weeks, 40 hours per week on 10‑hour day shifts. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or potentially an RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care to surgical patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care management.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; accurately care for and handle specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• ACLS, BLS, PALS, CNOR, NIH certifications.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care operating room experience.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs routinely; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 lbs.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 10‑hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
