Job Summary

Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) in Rochester, New York. This position involves providing specialized surgical assistance in the operating room environment, supporting a variety of procedures with a focus on neurosurgical cases. The role requires a licensed HCP with proven experience in assisting during surgeries, adhering to aseptic techniques, and supporting the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details

  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, with a schedule that may include 3-12s, a combination of 2-8s and 2-12s, or 5-8s depending on department needs.
  • Schedule: Shift hours are 12 hours with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • NY state license in hand.
  • One year of operating room (first assistant) experience.
  • Proficiency in applying tourniquets, using aseptic technique, securing drainage systems, clamping and cauterizing vessels or tissues, and suturing all wound layers including muscle and fascia.
  • Candidate must have EPIC charting system experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in neurosurgery.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary support.
  • Background policies reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information

  • Candidates will be required to float to other Neuroscience locations and RGH OR.
  • Returning staff with one year of previous employment are accepted.
  • Modules related to the specialty are billable for up to 5 hours, with a total of 10 hours possibly billed.
  • Foreign education verification may be needed if applicable; alert the account manager at time of submittal.
  • Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted, and candidates must be able to work in a floating capacity as needed.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
