About the role

American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an Acute Inpatient Rehab unit in Hilo, Hawaii. This is a 26-week travel assignment with a 40-hour workweek on the day shift (Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM). Coverage spans both Rehab and Acute Rehab units at a medical center. The role requires 2+ years of adult experience and a Hawaii state license.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and re-evaluate assigned patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Plan and implement ongoing therapeutic programs as prescribed by the ordering physician
  • Regularly update treatment plans and home exercise programs
  • Independently manage a full caseload
  • Determine when re-evaluations are needed based on insurance authorization
  • Must be available to work Hawaii State and Federal holidays as required by hospital operations

Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapist license; Hawaii license required by start of assignment
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience with adult patients in outpatient and acute settings
  • Current BLS certification from American Red Cross
  • Experience with Net Health Therapy and Meditech EMR systems preferred

Schedule

  • Shift: Days, 5x8 hours (Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Start Date: September 28, 2026
  • Duration: 26 weeks
  • Travelers must report to Employee Health 48-72 hours prior to the start of the assignment and plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date to attend a required Friday morning Employee Health appointment
