About the role
The wound care specialist is a healthcare professional located in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves managing and coordinating patient wound care in various inpatient settings across multiple facilities. The position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide specialized wound management services.
Schedule
- Days (4/10 shifts)
- Float assignments to multiple facilities as needed
- Minimum of 40 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care, including wound assessment and documentation
- Provide discharge supplies and patient education
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Manage wound care patients, including ostomies, draining wounds, and fistulas
- Focus on pressure, vascular, arterial, and diabetic ulcerations
- Address skin conditions resulting from incontinence, surgical procedures, and trauma
Experience with Smith and Nephew wound vacuums is preferred. Orientation is provided at all hospitals involved, with supervision from preceptors and education on documentation systems.
Requirements
- BLS Certification
- Wound Ostomy Certified (WOCN) through NAWCO
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wound care
- Valid Washington RN license
- Willing to submit license
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Wound Care Certified (WCC) via NAWCO
