Responsibilities
- Start or check peripheral IVs
- Access and assess infusaports
- Administer medications
- Monitor vital signs
- Suction patients
- Insert foleys
- Help patients with personal needs
- Inform the technologist or radiologist of any unusual patient needs
- Perform specialized nursing duties, such as administering IV sedation or analgesia during special procedures
- Closely monitor patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters
Requirements
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- 1‑2 years recent acute care experience (minimum 2 years)
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
- Ability to easily lift 20 pounds; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds
- Awareness of and ability to work safely with exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment
