Travel Nurse RN - PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care - $1,844 per week
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Post/Pre-Op RN for an 11-week travel assignment in Atlanta, Georgia. This role provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery, ensuring patient safety and comfort prior to and during the surgical recovery period.
About the Role
The Post/Pre-Op Registered Nurse assesses patient health before and after surgery, implements care plans, administers treatments, and collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This position involves 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week, for a duration of 11 weeks starting as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients pre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential risks.
- Prepare patients for surgery, educating them about procedures and post-operative care.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and evaluate their post-anesthesia condition.
- Monitor patients post-operatively for complications, manage pain and recovery, and administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Maintain awareness of patient comfort and safety in the perioperative setting.
- Observe and document patient conditions, treatments, and responses to anesthesia, notifying the care team of significant changes or adverse reactions.
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) to detect deviations from normal and respond appropriately.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using Pre/Post-Op nursing standards, policies, and protocols.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records.
- Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including discharge instructions and recovery guidelines.
- Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre- and post-operative care.
- Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between units and departments.
- Operate and monitor pre- and post-op-specific equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC).
- PALS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.

Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
