About the Role

Cardiology Step Down Nurse in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients within a fast-paced, teamwork-oriented unit. The position offers an opportunity to work with complex cases in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Schedule

Nights, three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients.
• Titrate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and Dobutamine.
• Float to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute as required.

Requirements

• Valid RN license.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• NIHSS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in cardiac/vascular units.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cardiac/vascular patient care strongly preferred.

Unit Details

Unit comprises 32 beds (all private), with 22 step-down and 12 floor beds.

• Step-down patient ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients.
• Floor patient ratio: 1 RN to 6 patients.
• Common diagnoses include post-operative cardiac surgery cases such as CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, heart transplants, TAVRs, and complex vascular procedures like AAA repair and femoral bypass.
• Charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7.
• RT equipment includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow.
• Monitor techs interpret strips using EPIC charting system.

Dress code: Solid royal blue and white.
