Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $1,960 per week
About the role
A Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a healthcare facility located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized patient care to a diverse patient population, including stroke, cardiac (preferably with experience in cardiac drips), post-operative patients (orthopedic, urology, gynecology, general surgery), and general medical cases. The RN must be adaptable and comfortable caring for a wide variety of medical conditions, with the ability to float onsite or to sites within a 40-mile radius if needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
- Care for patients with conditions such as stroke, cardiac issues (including cardiac drips), post-operative recovery (orthopedic, urology, gynecology, general surgery), and general medical cases.
- Float to other units or sites within a 40-mile radius as needed.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for patient documentation.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- At least 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical (MS) or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU).
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Travel nursing experience.
- Adaptability to care for a wide variety of patients, including stroke, cardiac, post-op, and general medical cases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Familiarity with trauma or step-down patient care.
Schedule
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift.
- Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Duration: 13 weeks, starting 08/16/2026.
