Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,595 per week

About the role

Travel Operating Room RN position in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 13‑week assignment, 40 hours per week, 8‑hour day shifts. Immediate opening for circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care to surgical patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Verify that the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed; teach medication and home‑care management.
• Circulating nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; handle and care for specimens; monitor surgical equipment; maintain inventory of supplies pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub nurse duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; maintain inventory pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians with direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients post‑surgery.

Requirements

• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Minimum 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as an OR circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lean, and stoop for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting 20 lb routinely; patient handling may require up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases.

Pay

Pay package is based on 8‑hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
