Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,485 per week
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in West Union, IA. This position involves providing perioperative nursing care during surgical procedures in a critical access hospital setting. The role requires working variable day shifts and supporting a variety of specialties including endoscopy, GI, orthopedics, and obstetrics. The position offers a 13-week contract starting in September 2026, with opportunities to demonstrate clinical expertise and teamwork in a dynamic environment.
Schedule
- 36–40 hours per week
- 9-hour shifts, days (start times range from 0600 to 0730, based on the schedule)
- 13-week contract: 09/08/2026 – 12/06/2026
- Guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit may be closed
Responsibilities
- Circulate and/or scrub during surgical procedures
- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care
- Support specialties including endoscopy, GI, orthopedics, obstetrics, cataracts, podiatry, vascular, and pain clinic
- Start IVs and manage Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) care
- Assist or train less experienced nurses
Requirements
- Valid Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the OR specialty
- Experience in small or critical access hospital settings
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Resilient, adaptable, team-oriented, and confident in assigned duties
- Must start the medical part of compliance within 48 hours of acceptance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with endoscopy procedures
- Proficiency in GI procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, lap chole, appendectomy, and cesarean sections
