Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neonatal patients in the NICU
- Perform head-to-toe neonatal assessments and monitor changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and calculate age-appropriate dosages
- Manage central lines and UACs and obtain blood samples as needed
- Monitor patients using bedside monitoring equipment and mechanical ventilators
- Calculate and monitor fluid and nutritional intake
- Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians and the healthcare team
- Educate and communicate appropriately with parents and families
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and maintain accurate documentation
Requirements
- Active California RN License
- BLS
- NRP
- NICU experience
- 3 years of PEDS/PICU experience preferred, as the RN may be required to float
- Experience with neonatal assessments, central lines/UACs, bedside monitoring, and mechanical ventilators
