Provide high-acuity care for acute stroke and complex telemetry patients in a 34-bed medical-surgical unit. Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale evaluations. Monitor, interpret, and respond to changes in telemetry rhythm strips. Ensure compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and care plans. Administer medications using Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) standards, emphasizing safety and accuracy. Coordinate patient care collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team (providers, therapy, case management). Manage patient admissions, discharges, and flow in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment. Maintain a strong focus on patient safety, including falls prevention and skin integrity. Work within a primary and team nursing model to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care. Hold and maintain current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale, with the ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to employment. Med Ninjas Job ID #17946.
