About the role

Medical Surgical and Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital located in the Charlotte region. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients with complex gastrointestinal surgeries, trauma, and other critical medical conditions on a night shift schedule. The position offers the opportunity to work within a high-acuity environment, supporting a diverse patient population that requires advanced clinical skills.

Schedule

  • Night shift, 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients with complex gastrointestinal surgeries, trauma, and other high-acuity medical conditions
  • Manage patients requiring intensive monitoring, including telemetry
  • Float within assigned regions and scope of practice to ensure adequate staffing coverage

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
  • 2 years of medical-surgical or telemetry RN experience
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing complex gastrointestinal surgeries including partial and total colectomy, bowel resections, Whipple procedures, and liver resections
  • Previous trauma or resource team RN experience

Patients with complex gastrointestinal surgeries, trauma, and other high-acuity medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring.

  • Access to Resource Nurses, Hospitalists, Intensivists
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • 24/7 phlebotomy support

Technology/Equipment

  • EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Alaris infusion pumps with alarms
  • Omnicell medication dispensing system
  • Phillips monitors

Orientation

Two days of departmental orientation for new staff.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
