About the role
Medical/Surgical Nurse (MS) specializing in the medical-surgical floor at a healthcare facility in Appleton, WI. This position involves providing high-quality patient care during 12-hour night shifts, with an emphasis on managing a diverse patient population. The role requires adherence to clinical protocols and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient outcomes.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (start time: 5:30 PM)
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Potential for up to every other weekend work
- Holidays are part of a rotation as needed
- Missed shifts must be made up within 2 weeks of absence
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care on a medical-surgical floor with patient ratios of approximately 1:4-6
- Manage clinical cases such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal (CIWA), cellulitis, wound management, pulmonary interventions, neuro checks, chest tubes, cardiac dysrhythmias, and stable drips
- Adhere to clinical protocols and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for charting
Requirements
- WI Registered Nurse (RN) License
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 3+ years of RN experience
- Recent charting experience with EPIC (within the last 2 years)
- Previous travel experience highly preferred
- Wear facility-required black scrubs
