Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $2,180 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois. The position starts 09/28/2026, lasts 15 weeks, with 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.

Requirements

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience (1‑2 years preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop; lift up to 20 pounds routinely, with occasional patient lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with confused, agitated, or uncooperative patients.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
