About the role

Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in Espanola, New Mexico. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care for a designated group of patients during night shifts. The position focuses on delivering safe, effective, patient-centered, and timely care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs and responses. Collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members is essential to ensure comprehensive care. The nurse will administer medications and treatments as prescribed, oversee clinical supervision of licensed practical nurses and non-licensed assistive personnel, and meet specific patient and family education needs during the care episode.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process during night shifts
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient needs and responses
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Oversee clinical supervision of licensed practical nurses and non-licensed assistive personnel
  • Meet specific patient and family education needs during the care episode
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Float between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles as required
  • Adhere to facility protocols and standards

Requirements

  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
  • Two years current experience in the specialty
  • At least one 13-week prior travel assignment
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or associate of science in nursing (ASN)
  • Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC electronic health record experience (training available on-site)

Schedule

  • Night shift, 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
