Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,990 per week

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. A Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Urology/Nephrology is needed for an acute care hospital located in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves providing patient care on a busy 25-bed medical-surgical unit with a focus on urology, nephrology, and kidney transplant cases. This opportunity offers the chance to work within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility, supporting adult patients with a variety of diagnoses and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage adult patients with diagnoses such as UTI, pneumonia, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, and complex bladder surgeries
• Manage urinary and renal procedures, IV therapy, and emergency response
• Use equipment like chest tubes, PICC lines, and urinary catheters
• Float within scope to other medical-surgical units
• Work every other weekend
• Complete required modules prior to start and mandatory virtual orientation on Day 1

Schedule

Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Will accommodate a short RTO request of no more than 5 days.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
• At least 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including telemetry-monitoring, emergency response, and renal/urology care skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with kidney transplant
• Trauma center experience
• Cerner charting system proficiency
• Prior medical-surgical or critical care background
