Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,935 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13-week assignment in Great Bend, Kansas. This position requires 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, and operates on a 12-hour shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Aid physicians during examinations and treatments of patients.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.

Requirements

• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• 1 year of recent acute care experience

Qualifications

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Experience with moving or lifting patients, which may involve lifting up to 50 pounds at times.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation), with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
