About the role
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing quality patient care in a short stay observation unit that handles a variety of medical conditions. The RN will work night shifts, including every other weekend and holiday, and will be expected to float to inpatient units as needed to support patient care.
Job Details
- 48 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts (7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.)
The unit consists of 8 beds, specializing in observation care for conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and post-operative urology and GI patients. The average patient stay is up to 48 hours with a high volume of admissions and discharges. The role requires a resilient, independent, and adaptable nurse with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards change. Uniform scrub colors can be any color.
Requirements
- Wisconsin RN license
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
- At least 1 travel assignment
- Charting experience in EPIC
- Background in observation, MS, or Telemetry units
- Ability to read and interpret strips and take an EKG exam during compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- NIHSS certification highly preferred

Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
