Job Summary

The organization is seeking an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves providing patient care within a fast-paced, Level I trauma unit, supporting diverse patient diagnoses, and managing complex medical conditions. The RN will join a highly skilled team, delivering advanced clinical support and collaborating with interdisciplinary staff to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Job Details

  • Position / Specialty: IMCU / Intermediate Care Unit
  • Shift: 3x12 Days (0645-1915) with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 08/03/2026
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience required; first-timers not accepted
  • Certifications Required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
  • Schedule: Days, 36 hours/week, including every other weekend
  • Float: Will float as needed within scope to meet facility needs
  • RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days; discuss with manager for flexibility

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, or PCU/IMC units
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias, manage telemetry, and utilize Rapid Response Teams
  • Proficiency with post-cardiac procedures (e.g., MI, Cath, surgery recovery), feeding tube care, dialysis management, IV therapy, and medication administration protocols
  • Experience with neurological, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and respiratory patient care essential
  • Must be able to care for ventilated patients, manage chest tubes, and perform airway management
  • Must have active Illinois license; pending license not accepted
  • No on-call requirement; no travel or housing stipends included

Unit Details

  • Very fast-paced unit with high patient throughput, averaging four patients per RN
  • Patients include all diagnoses managed on a Level I trauma center unit with interdisciplinary support such as physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams
  • Capable of managing tracheostomies with ventilators and other complex respiratory equipment

Additional Notes

  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Duration of assignment: flexible, starting on 08/03/2026
  • Must complete all compliance and certification requirements prior to start date
