Job Summary

Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for neurocritical and medical overflow ICU patients in a Level III Trauma Center that is Magnet designated and a comprehensive stroke center. The position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team in a facility committed to evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care for neurocritical and medical overflow ICU patients
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in a Magnet designated Level III Trauma Center and comprehensive stroke center

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Wisconsin nursing license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • At least 4 years of clinical experience in a critical care setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws
  • Additional certifications such as CVVH/CRRT and EVD

Support within Department

  • CNA support with a ratio of 1:8-10
  • Critical care nurse practitioners (2 on days)
  • 24/7 intensivist coverage
  • Hospitalist services
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Phlebotomy support

Technology/Equipment

  • EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Alaris infusion pumps
  • Pyxis medication dispensing
  • GE monitors
  • Medtronic EVDs

Orientation

One shift of facility and unit orientation.

Scheduling

  • Every other weekend rotation
  • No on-call duties
  • Every other holiday
  • Approval of time off up to 7 days is allowed
