About the role

Licensed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized neurocritical care to patients with neurological conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, and neuro-intensive diagnoses. The nurse will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in a Level III Trauma Center with comprehensive stroke center designation.

Schedule

  • Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (07:00 PM to 07:00 AM or 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM, in six-week cycle rotations)
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Fatigue policy limits work to 60 hours per week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized neurocritical care to ICU patients
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Critical Care Nurse Practitioners, Hospitalists, Intensivists, Respiratory Therapists, Phlebotomists, and Telemetry staff
  • Manage technology and equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors, Medtronic EVDs, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
  • Float to support areas including the Emergency Department holding area, other Intensive Care Units (Medical, Surgical, Coronary, Pediatric), Medical-Surgical units, and Post-Anesthesia Care Units

Requirements

  • Valid Wisconsin Nursing License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Stroke Scale certification (NIHSS)
  • At least 4 years of clinical ICU experience, with a focus on neurocritical care preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVH/CRRT)
  • Experience with External Ventricular Drain (EVD) management

Support & Orientation

  • One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
  • 2 Critical Care Nurse Practitioners on day shifts
  • Hospitalists and Intensivists available 24/7
