Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in an acute care facility located on the fourth floor. This role involves providing high-acuity care to adult patients with complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, ARDS, CHF, COPD, post-stem cell transplant, post-surgical recovery, and other critical diagnoses. The ICU team is supported by a dedicated internal medicine team 24/7, respiratory therapists, and advanced monitoring equipment. The position requires adaptability, professional excellence, and strong clinical skills to work across various high-acuity patient scenarios within a teaching environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity care to adult ICU patients with complex medical conditions
- Work 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Perform all EKG monitoring and interpretation
- Draw labs and perform EKGs
- Float to other units as needed (first to float)
- Manage up to 5 patients per team
- Participate in two orientation shifts: one classroom and one on the unit with a preceptor
- Work within a teaching environment alongside internal medicine team, respiratory therapists, and advanced monitoring equipment
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license
- Minimum 3 years of hospital ICU experience
- Current ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), and NIHSS (American Heart Association) certifications
- Recent Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience within the past year
- Recent hospital acute care experience in ICU
- No first-time ICU travelers accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in adult ICU with competency in titrating drips such as vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics, insulin, and heparin
- Experience using ventilators, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
Schedule
- Night shifts from 1830-0700, with flexibility for coverage gaps during initial schedule balancing
- Future scheduling via Oracle application, with shift swaps permitted
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) within a 6-week schedule block
- Holiday shifts may be required at the discretion of the manager; no Holiday RTO approved
- No call or standby requirements

- Facility has no tube station
- Support staff available 24/7 but not assigned specifically to ICU
- BSN not required
- License to submit is necessary
