About the role
- 12-hour night shifts with variable start times at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Holiday requirements: 2-3 shifts during winter and typically every other holiday during the contract
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4 during the day; higher ratios at night; after 3:00 AM, only 2 RNs on until 7:00 AM
- Rotating variable start times required; manager creates the schedule
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
- Must hold a Michigan nursing license prior to submission
- Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
Facility details
- Trauma Level IV facility treating 40-60 patients per day on average
- Common patient diagnoses: traumas, STEMIs, strokes, MVAs, hunting injuries, and farm-related injuries
- 14 beds, 2 trauma bays, a Fast Track area with 3 designated rooms, and 2 triage rooms
- Travelers may perform triage after reviewing and understanding facility policies and procedures
- ED physicians available 24/7 in-house, along with mid-level providers
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7 for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKG assistance
- 24/7 phlebotomy services available for lab draws
- X-ray located down the hall and available 24/7; CT available nearby
- No monitor technicians; RNs responsible for reading their own strips at central monitoring station
- Floating to inpatient areas may be required to assist as needed
- Dress code: any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
- Orientation includes computer-based training and 2 days of floor orientation including department-specific policies
Pay
Estimated gross weekly pay: $2,340 plus a $500 contract-completion bonus.
