Emergency Room Registered Nurse position in Asheville, North Carolina, providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, trauma and stroke center serving a diverse and multicultural community. This role involves active participation in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and compassionate patient engagement.

About the role

  • 13-week travel assignment starting 09/14/2026
  • 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts
  • Unit has 101 beds with patient ratios typically at 4:1, up to 7:1 during behavioral holds
  • Work in cardiac monitoring, triage, and internal processing areas using GE monitors and Baxter pumps
  • Flexibility to work in all sections of the Emergency Department required
  • Scheduling includes every other weekend
  • No floating outside of the ED permitted
  • Dress code: navy scrubs

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in a Level 2 trauma and stroke center
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical skills in a fast-paced emergency department
  • Participate in a team-oriented environment with excellent teamwork
  • Adhere to unit-specific policies and respectful behavior standards
  • Engage compassionately with a multicultural patient community speaking over 120 languages

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience as a registered nurse with at least 1 year in an emergency department setting
  • Current certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) required within 90 days of hire
  • Education and licensing requirements meet state and organizational standards
  • Location in North Carolina

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Level 2 trauma centers, comprehensive stroke centers, or high-volume emergency departments with over 100,000 visits annually
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
