Unit Information
The unit primarily serves cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients, including:
- Open‑heart surgeries (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, etc.)
- Thoracic lung surgeries (lobectomy, thoracotomy, etc.)
- Esophagogastrectomy
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs (open and endovascular)
- Fem‑pop bypass and carotid endarterectomies
- Overflow medical cardiology cases (heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, etc.)
Number of Beds: 40 cardiac surgery step‑down beds
Number of Staff: Approximately 100 total
Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
Equipment: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts
Electronic Medical Record: Cerner
Requirements
- Prior CV critical care experience (CVPCU RN)
- Step‑down experience
- Telemetry experience
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NIH certification
- No on‑call duties
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday, day or night) per 6‑week schedule period
- Flexibility to work holidays
