About the Role
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Madison, Wisconsin. The role involves providing specialized care for critically ill neonates within a state-of-the-art Level IV NICU. The RN will deliver comprehensive, patient-and family-centered care to high-acuity neonates requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including surgical, neurological, and cardiac procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care for critically ill neonates in a Level IV NICU
- Deliver comprehensive, patient- and family-centered care to high-acuity neonates
- Manage patients requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including surgical, neurological, and cardiac procedures
- Float to care for patients less than 12 months, including all units within the pediatric hospital connected to an academic medical center
- Work with specialized equipment such as ventilators (Draeger, Servo, Oscillator), Arctic Sun whole-body cooling, and telemetry monitoring
Schedule
Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week. Duration: 13 weeks. Start date: 09/14/2026.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid compact license
- At least 2 years of full-time acute care experience
- Minimum of 1 year in Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care unit
- At least 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience including post-op, g-tubes, trach/vents management, various invasive/noninvasive ventilation modes
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- NRP certification (American Heart Association only)
- Epic experience required
- Travel experience required

The NICU cares for high acuity neonates with diagnoses such as congenital surgeries, brain injuries, seizures, prematurity, congenital heart disease, metabolic or genetic disorders. Location: 1675 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792.
