Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin responsible for providing specialized care to high-risk newborns in a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III NICU. The role involves managing respiratory support, central lines, IV therapy, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized care to high-risk newborns in a Level III NICU
  • Manage respiratory support, central lines, and IV therapy
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Schedule

  • Days shift with 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • 13-week duration starting 08/24/2026
  • Includes weekend rotations (every other weekend)
  • Flexible scheduling based on staffing needs; no set or pattern schedules
  • Time off requests require nurse manager approval
  • No on-call duties
  • Every other holiday based on start date

Requirements

  • BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and STABLE certifications
  • Level III NICU experience, providing care for high-risk newborns
  • At least 2 years of NICU experience
  • Valid Wisconsin nursing license

  • Experience with complex neonatal support
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system

Orientation

  • First day with nurse manager and nurse educator followed by unit training
  • Subsequent days with preceptor and work buddy
  • Each traveler will have their own patient assignment

Floating

  • First to the Women’s Care Center for newborn care only
  • Float first for travelers
