About the role

The Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This 34-bed unit is designed to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, responding to changes in real time.
• Ensure compliance with stroke core measures, such as dysphagia screening and education.
• Administer medications using BCMA standards, emphasizing safety and accuracy.
• Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, including providers and therapy staff.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment.
• Maintain a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and overall patient safety.

Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts, days (07:00 AM to 07:00 PM)

Requirements

• Current state nursing license
• ACLS and BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale competency
• Ability to read basic rhythm strips
