About the role

Travel Nurse RN – Medical‑Surgical (Med‑Surg) position in Mattoon, Illinois, working on a general medical observation unit. The role involves caring for patients with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, infections, and urinary tract infections. Candidates must be comfortable using Bi‑Pap and high‑flow oxygen therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a 12‑hour day shift schedule.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for medical‑surgical conditions.
• Administer medications and therapies, including Bi‑Pap and high‑flow oxygen as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Participate in float rotations when required.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in medical‑surgical nursing.
• Verifiable permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Bi‑Pap and high‑flow oxygen therapy.

Pay

Pay is based on 10‑hour shifts and a 40‑hour work week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined. Competitive salaries are offered.

Schedule

12‑hour day shifts, minimum 40 hours per week. Assignment length is 13 weeks, running from 10/05/2026 to 01/02/2027. Contract may be 36 or 48 hours per week.
