Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse positions are available in Galesburg, Illinois. These roles involve providing patient care on a 37-bed unit that includes private and semi-private rooms. The role requires adherence to unit specific protocols and a focus on patient recovery, with an emphasis on acute care for a variety of medical conditions.

Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with self-scheduling available but managed by the supervisor to meet operational needs.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois registered nursing license;
  • BLS (AHA) certification;
  • minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse in a medical-surgical setting;
  • and successful completion of the required certifications and licensing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system;
  • ability to manage a patient load of 4-6 patients during night shifts;
  • familiarity with common diagnoses such as COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and surgical cases.

Additional Information

  • The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 during day shifts and 1:5-6 at night.
  • Team includes charge nurses available 24/7, CNAs at a ratio of 1:10-15, and in-house hospitalist and eHospitalist coverage both day and night.
  • No vents are used on this unit; however, patients requiring Tele monitoring are managed with central observation.
  • Floating to other floors is permitted for those with the appropriate competency, with full patient assignments.
  • Orientation includes 2 days specific to the department and 1 day of hospital/EMR onboarding.
  • The unit manages typical diagnoses such as COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and various surgical recoveries.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
