Job Summary

This position involves providing patient care on a 18-bed acute care unit with primarily private rooms. The role requires managing a patient load with typical ratios of 1:6, with occasional patient needs for IV therapy and basic respiratory assistance. The nurse will work in a dynamic environment supporting admitted patients with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, post-operative care, and others, while collaborating with a dedicated team including charge nurses, nurse aides, telemedicine providers, and ER backup staff.

Job Details

  • Location: Rugby, North Dakota

  • Schedule: Rotating days and nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week; schedules are set 6 weeks in advance and may include every third weekend with rotation for holidays.

  • Start Date: 08/10/2026

Required Qualifications

  • Valid license to practice nursing

  • BLS certification

  • ACLS and NIH Stroke Certification preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience

  • IV experience

  • Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with respiratory therapy (breathing treatments, chest physiotherapy)

  • Ability to assist in emergency room settings if needed

  • Knowledge of pharmacy policies regarding drips like Cardizem

Additional Information

  • Charge nurses act as house supervisors and typically do not take patient assignments.

  • Nurse aides are scheduled for each shift.

  • The unit has in-house ER providers and telemedicine support.

  • RN staff are responsible for reading and interpreting strips on Phillips monitors.

  • Scrubs in any color or pattern; no scrubs provided.
