Travel Med Surg RN - $1,951 per week

Travel nursing position for a Medical/Surgical RN in Salem, Virginia. Start date 10/05/2026, 13‑week assignment, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts.

About the role

As a Med‑Surg Travel Nurse you will conduct patient assessments, prioritize data collection based on immediate conditions, perform ongoing assessments and treatments as ordered, document findings, and provide education and support to patients’ families.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed.

Requirements

• 1–2 years recent acute care experience.
• Current BLS certification (minimum 1 year).
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 lb easily; occasional lifts up to 50 lb may be required.
• Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment with confused, agitated, or uncooperative patients.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
