Travel Inpatient Physical Therapist - $2,435 per week

About the role

Inpatient Physical Therapist (PT) for a healthcare facility in Westfield, Massachusetts. This position involves providing physical therapy services to general medicine patients, primarily with a geriatric population, within a 50-bed medical-surgical unit with an adjoining 15-bed acute rehabilitation unit. The role offers a day shift schedule, with a focus on independent patient evaluations and discharge planning, working closely with MDs, nurses, and ancillary staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy services to general medicine patients, primarily geriatric.
• Conduct independent patient evaluations and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
• Work primarily on the medical-surgical unit and assist on the acute rehabilitation unit each Saturday, splitting time between both units.
• Deliver general patient care for a predominantly geriatric population in a small community setting.

Requirements

• Licensed in the state of Massachusetts.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in med/surg (preferred).
• Comfortable communicating directly with MDs and staff about discharge recommendations.
• Able to independently follow orientation.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience on med/surg.
• Effective communication with RNs and CNAs.
• Experience with general debility, cardiac, GI, respiratory, and general orthopedic conditions.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
• Ability to perform independent patient evaluations and discharge planning.
• Comfortable working in a geriatric-focused inpatient setting.

Pay

Pay package is based on 8‑hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

8‑hour shift, Tuesday through Saturday; minimum of 40 hours per week (day shift).
