Travel Emergency Room RN - $2,125 per week

Job Summary

The Emergency Room Nurse in Alexandria, Virginia will provide high-quality nursing care in a busy, mixed adult and pediatric emergency department. The role involves managing a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels in a 24-hour care setting, with responsibilities including implementing clinical protocols, managing vents and high-flow oxygen, and administering routine medications.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Shifts from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 1:00 am
• Six weekend shifts in six weeks

Required Qualifications

• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Two or more years of experience in an emergency room setting involving both adult and pediatric patient populations
• Licensed or eligible for licensing in Virginia

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in managing high-acuity patients
• Pediatric patient care experience
• Familiarity with mixed adult and pediatric emergency care

Additional Information

• The ER does not have a separate pediatric area; pediatric patients are seen in all zones
• The RN manages ventilators and high-flow oxygen therapy, with training provided
• Staffing ratios are typically 4:1 but can stretch to 5:1 during peak census
• The department handles diagnoses such as STEMI, stroke, sepsis, sprains, sutures, and other high-acuity conditions
• This position requires Epic electronic medical record system access, with immediate start possible
