About the Position

As a CVICU RN, you will provide critical care to patients in a high-acuity environment, including those recovering from open-heart surgery. Your responsibilities will include assessing and providing care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients within our cardiac medical surgical unit.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift
  • 12-hour rotating shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start: ASAP
  • Holiday coverage required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients
  • Administer care to a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and those requiring pre and post PCI care, pacemaker management, thoracotomy, and treatment for a range of medical conditions
  • Operate advanced medical equipment, including central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, A-lines, and short-term ventilation support
  • Conduct skilled assessments and interventions for potential deteriorating conditions among patients
  • Manage discharge planning and the continuum of care from admission to discharge
  • Act as a clinical leader and assist in precepting staff members

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent open heart recovery nursing experience
  • Ability to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients on their first day
  • Current State of Montana RN Licensure
  • ACLS Certification
  • BLS/BCLS Certification
  • PALS Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Degree from an Accredited Nursing Program

Qualifications

  • Advanced nursing principles and procedures, specifically in critical care and CVICU settings
  • Ability to operate various medical and infusion equipment proficiently
  • Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation skills

Organizational Relationships

  • Receives direction from: Providers, Charge Nurse, ICU Director, and CNO
  • Gives direction to: RN, LPN, CNA, Housekeeping Staff, Dietary Staff
  • Works cooperatively with: Providers, Healthcare Professionals, and Allied Health Staff
