Travel Acute Care Physical Therapist - $2,686 per week

About the Role

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for a 13-week acute care rehabilitation assignment in Montgomery, Alabama. This travel position is open to first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience.

The role is in an inpatient acute care setting within a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center. The therapist will treat trauma, orthopedic, neuro, cardiac, post-op, ICU, MedSurg, and ED patients. ED patients are managed similarly to med-surg patients, with initial evaluations followed by continued treatment.

Patient ratio is 10-12 per therapist, with approximately 15 units billed per day. The therapist may float to any area of the hospital, including trauma, orthopedics, neuro, MedSurg, ICU, or ED, and will use the Cerner/Powerchart EMR system.

Schedule

• 10-hour shifts, days (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM), Monday through Friday
• 40 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required once per month
• No on-call requirements
• 3-day department orientation provided
• May be asked to assist with coverage during Thanksgiving or Christmas; other holidays are staffed as normal working days

Responsibilities

• Perform patient evaluations and treatments across multiple hospital units with a focus on acute care rehabilitation
• Work with a patient ratio of 10-12 per therapist, billing approximately 15 units per day
• Float to various units including trauma, orthopedics, neuro, MedSurg, ICU, or ED as needed
• Collaborate with Rehab Aides, CNAs, and clinical support staff via a group messaging app
• Rehab Aides provide 1:1 support during the first 1-2 weeks of orientation, then are shared among clinical staff

Requirements

• Current BLS certification
• MSPT or DPT degree required
• Acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required for travelers; first-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
• Must be adaptable, coachable, and a strong team player
• License required if applicable
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or dark green
