About the role

We are recruiting a mission-driven Trauma Surgery Physician to join our team at Denver Health. Our Values include Respect, Belonging, Accountability, and Transparency. The Ernest E. Moore Shock Trauma Center at Denver Health is an internationally renowned Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma center, handling over 3,000 patient evaluations annually. Services include chest wall reconstruction, retrograde balloon occlusion of the aorta, and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation. The Trauma Center is involved in numerous research projects, publishing over 200 peer-reviewed articles yearly.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients, making initial assessments, and questioning patients and family members on complaints, symptoms, and medical history.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and determine which instruments and methods of surgery would be most successful.
  • Perform emergency procedures, such as endotracheal tube intubation, pericardiocentesis, and ultrasonographic evaluations.
  • Perform operations on critical, often multiple, injuries to different organ systems.
  • Use a variety of medical tools, such as surgical clamps, lasers, and medical software.
  • Work with other specialized surgeons to stabilize patients in critical condition.
  • Cook with other specialized surgeons to stabilize patients in critical condition.
  • Coordinate nurses, assistants, anesthesiologists, specialists, and other medical staff required for surgery.
  • Provide in-service training on new surgical technology.
  • Remain up-to-date on surgical techniques by reading medical journals and attending medical conferences.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Doctorate Degree and be licensed as an MD-Physician by the State Medical Board. They should possess thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, be able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities, and provide quality medical care. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills are essential. Computer skills are preferred.
