Trauma Surgeon - Locum Coverage

About the Role

A trauma surgeon role providing comprehensive trauma care in inpatient and operating room settings, managing a shared patient census of approximately 35 patients daily.

Responsibilities

• Cover trauma surgeries across inpatient and OR settings during day, night, and 24-hour shifts
• Manage a shared patient load, delivering urgent and critical care
• Perform essential trauma procedures such as tube thoracostomy and central venous catheter placement
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of attending surgeons, advanced practice providers, residents, and trauma nurse leads to maintain seamless trauma care
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards

Requirements

• Board certification in surgery
• Active medical license in North Carolina
• NC DEA registration
• Current ATLS certification
• Experience with trauma procedures and inpatient care
• Prescriptive authority required
