About the role
The Trauma Surgeon provides comprehensive trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care services for patients with acute injuries and surgical emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Triage
- Resuscitation
- Diagnosis
- Operative intervention
- Critical care management
- Care coordination from admission through discharge
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency Program.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program.
- Experience managing trauma and emergency general surgery patients.
- Experience providing care for critically injured patients in acute care or trauma setting.
- Experience performing emergency surgical procedures and managing complex surgical conditions.
- Experience in Surgical Critical Care and intensive care unit management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Board Certified in General Surgery.
- Board Certified in Critical Care (Surgical Critical Care).
- Current and unrestricted New Jersey Medical License.
- New Jersey Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Registration.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Special Requirements
- Provide trauma and emergency general surgery coverage as assigned by the Division Head.
- Participate in work schedules that include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
- Maintain compliance with all requirements necessary to support ACS Trauma Center certification and verification standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, reports, billing documentation, and correspondence related to professional services rendered.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and ensure continuity of care through follow-up treatment or appropriate referrals.
- Comply with all Cooper University Health Care policies, medical staff bylaws, credentialing requirements, and physician contractual obligations.
