Trauma Performance Improvement Specialist (Part-Time)
Purpose & Scope
The Trauma Performance Improvement Specialist works under the direction of the Trauma Coordinator and Trauma Medical Director. Their primary responsibility is to serve as a resource for the trauma service line. They conduct the collection, surveillance, data entry, analysis, and reporting of trauma quality and performance improvement information from medical records and other sources. The PI specialist ensures that data collection, management, analysis, and performance improvement requirements are met for a Level II trauma center. They play a crucial role in attaining and maintaining Level II trauma center designation and verification.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in an approved related field is preferred.
- Experience: Five years experience in Healthcare, Emergency Services, Critical Care, or Critical Care transport is required.
- Certification/Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions, or compact state, is required. Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) is preferred, or Certified Abbreviated Injury Scaling Specialist (CAISS) is preferred.
- Other Qualifications: Completion of TOPIC (Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course) within 1 year of hire if not obtained prior, Completion of AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scaling)Course and Trauma ICD 10 course within 2 years of hire, Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and computer literacy, Mastery in working with Excel spreadsheets, Excellent organizational skills and time management.
