About the role

HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with University of South Florida, is seeking a Trauma Medical Director to lead a dynamic trauma and acute care surgery team in Jacksonville.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the trauma program and acute care surgery service.
  • Organize duties around 12-hour primary in-house coverage, plus 12-hour back-up.
  • Support the acute care surgery team with seven full-time advanced practice professionals and six full-time trauma surgeons.
  • Participate in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives.
  • Work with a multispecialty team including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, and Interventional Radiology.
  • Operate 26 operating rooms and 36 ICU beds combined.
  • Manage a TICU/MICU with 56 beds.
  • Operate a 26-bed emergency department with 2 dedicated trauma bays and 4 additional critical care bays.
  • Handle 1840 annual trauma patients entered in the registry.
  • Be part of a Florida State verified level II Trauma Center with high volumes of blunt and penetrating trauma (87% / 13%), pediatric trauma (under 16 years old), and burn cases.

Requirements

  • Board certified in General Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
  • Current ATLS instructor.
  • Previous Trauma Medical Director (Associate or Full) experience with state and regional exposure.
  • A current, or ability to obtain, unrestricted license to practice in Florida - not subject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditions.
  • No history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state or jurisdiction.
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
